Jason Kaufman

President and Head of M&A Advisory

Mr. Kaufman’s distinguished investment banking career spans nearly 25 years, during which time he has emerged as a leading advisor supporting world-class companies, entrepreneurs, and private equity investors in the national security community.

Mr. Kaufman has successfully completed more than 100 transactions worth north of $8 billion in deal value in a wide array of industries, including government services, defense technology, cybersecurity, homeland security, and other emerging technologies. He also leverages his deep knowledge of national security topics to provide strategic advice to the firm’s clients, delivering his unique perspective at the intersection of finance and industry strategy.

Under Mr. Kaufman’s leadership, The Chertoff Group’s M&A practice has become one of the leading advisors to firms serving the national security and cybersecurity community. He has led advisory engagements on behalf of marquee clients, including Arlington Capital, Cubic Corporation, Parsons Corporation, Veritas Capital, Griffon Corporation, and CACI International Inc. He has also represented premier founder-owned firms in their exits, such as Next Century Corporation, Skyris Corporation, i_SW Corporation, Signal Innovation Group, and Potomac Fusion.

Prior to joining The Chertoff Group, Mr. Kaufman served for seven years as an investment banker with BB&T Capital Markets | Windsor Group and three years at Jefferies Quarterdeck. He was also an associate with ECentury Capital, an early-stage venture capital fund sponsored by Rothschild, Hitachi, and Mitsubishi.
